Texas Hospital Association PAC Endorses Representative Dee Margo for State House District 78
El Paso, TX– The Texas Hospital Association’s state political action committee, HOSPAC, has endorsed Representative Dee Margo, (R) El Paso, for Texas House District 78. One of the largest hospital associations in the country, THA represents more than 85 percent of the state’s hospitals and health care systems, which employ some 369,000 health care professionals statewide.
UT System Chancellor Allows UT El Paso to Continue Planning for Potential Boxing Match in Sun Bowl
AUSTIN – The University of Texas System released a video message of UT System Chancellor Francisco G. Cigarroa’s decision to allow UT El Paso to proceed with negotiating contract agreements with various parties to host the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Andy Lee boxing match at the Sun Bowl.
Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Funding Maintained
El Paso, TX— Representative Dee Margo eagerly announces that funding for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will be maintained for fiscal years 2012 and 2013. After working closely with stakeholders and the Appropriations Committee of the House - with the support of Attorney General Greg Abbott - the Compensation to Victims of Crime Fund (CVCF) projected shortfall has been addressed.
State Representative Dee Margo honored in TAB’s “For the Record”
AUSTIN, TX— The Texas Association of Business (TAB)released its "For the Record" report on how lawmakers voted during the 2011 Legislative Session, grading them on issues critical to Texas business. Representative Dee Margo's strong voting record earned him the honor of "Fighter for Free Enterprise." Margo scored 85%, well above the House average of 69%.
Representative Margo will participate in Texas Tribune discussion
AUSTIN- Representative Margo will be participating in the Texas Tribune event being held at the University of Texas at El Paso, on November 16th. Representative Margo will participate in a discussion on the 82nd Legislative Session, along with Representative Naomi Gonzalez and Senator Jose Rodriguez.

AUSTIN- Representative Margo participated in the Texas Tribune Festival on September 24th, as a panelist for a discussion on the 82nd Legislature and its impact on Hispanics. Topics discussed on the panel included the Texas Budget, Voter ID, Education, Medicaid, & Medicare.
Representative Margo is appointed to the Energy Council
AUSTIN- Representative Margo has been appointed by Speaker Joe Straus, to serve on The Energy Council. The Energy Council was formed in 1975, and is comprised of eleven energy-producing states, as well as five Canadian provinces and Venezuela.
The Border Prosecution Unit: Border region benefits from Dee Margo’s leadership
“As successful as this program has proven to be, a champion was needed in Austin to make sure it received the necessary support to continue the fight against those who would threaten our border communities. Working closely with El Paso District Attorney Jaime Esparza and his border colleagues, Representative Dee Margo became that champion in a legislative session where the message in Austin was that we must do more with less.”
State delegation: Teamwork still visible

That included the lone Republican amid the six, Dee Margo. And from what we see, they did... Margo certainly didn't change his political stripes; he's still our Republican... It's good to see our delegation, for the first time in several sessions, standing together as one, and still facing one public between sessions."
Representative Margo joint authors resolution to increase the economic stabilization fund
AUSTIN- Representative Margo has joint authored House Joint Resolution (HJR) 5 with Representative John Otto, which would increase the amount of revenue the state may deposit into the Economic Stabilization Fund (Rainy Day Fund) to 15 percent, from 10 percent of the total amount deposited into General Revenue.
Representative Margo aids Village of Vinton in obtaining certification from TCEQ
EL PASO- State Representative Dee Margo, House District #78, aided the Village of Vinton in obtaining a TCEQ decertification from a private CCN holder last week. The decertification opens the way for El Paso County to move forward on the planned northwest County Annex.

Budget Crisis: Texas legislature to cut funding to UTEP
EL PASO- The University of Texas at El Paso's budget, along with those of other universities in the state, could be cut by $1.7 billion due to the proposed state spending budget released during the 82nd Texas Legislative Session.
